The grand finale, held at the school field, drew the presence of top management officials, staff members, students, and sports enthusiasts, all of whom witnessed a thrilling display of teamwork, resilience, and school spirit.

Speaking at the event, the Rector, Dr. Ganiyu Abimbola Adebisi, congratulated the winning team and commended the tournament committee for a successful outing. Emphasizing the value of such competitions, he said:

“I sincerely appreciate the committee for their dedication in organizing a seamless tournament. I also want to urge our students to always engage in meaningful activities like this, rather than indulging in illegal or destructive behavior. This is a better and more productive path.”

Also present at the final match was the Registrar, Mr. Olayiwola Onipede, who experienced the Rector’s Cup for the first time since assuming office. He shared his excitement and emphasized the broader impact of sports:

“This is my first time experiencing the Rector’s Cup as Registrar, and I must say I’m impressed. Sporting events like this play a vital role in students’ all-round development. They encourage teamwork, determination, and focus—all of which positively reflect in their academic performance.”

The Chairman of the Sports Committee, Mr. Babalola Gbenga, expressed his appreciation to the school management, officiating officials, and all departments that participated. While acknowledging the success of the event, he also highlighted the financial challenges encountered during its organization:

“This year’s tournament was a great success, and I thank everyone who contributed, especially the management. However, one of our major challenges was funding. I’ll be engaging with the authorities to ensure this issue is addressed in future editions. I congratulate the Department of Mass Communication—they’ve often been knocked out in the group stage, but this year, their commitment and dedication earned them this historic win. I encourage other departments to intensify their preparations and give their best in the next edition.”

In a moment of pride, the Head of Department for Mass Communication, Mr. Olugbenga Adesemowo, expressed his joy and appreciation:

“I sincerely appreciate the school management and the organizing committee for providing an environment where students can showcase their talents. We give glory to God for this victory. I also thank the students and lecturers of our department for their unwavering support. Now that the tournament has come and gone, I encourage everyone to return to the classroom and remain focused as the academic session continues.”

Adepoju Odunayo, the team captain and coach of the winning squad, who played a pivotal role in leading his team to glory, also shared his excitement:

"I’m extremely happy and proud that we made it to the final and became champions. I appreciate the school management, my department, and most especially, my teammates for their efforts. I’m even more excited that this achievement happened under my captainship. I want to encourage my teammates not to relent—we must stay united and committed so we can defend this title in the next tournament.”

As part of the closing ceremony, medals were presented to participants across various categories. This included the marathon racers, the female football team, the third-place team in the football tournament, the second-place team, and, of course, the proud winners of the Rector’s Cup—Mass Communication.

The event concluded with a vibrant photo session featuring the winning team, school officials, supporters, and members of the organizing committee—immortalizing what is now a landmark moment for the Department of Mass Communication.
