IGBAJO POLY RECTOR URGES STAFF TO BE SECURITY CONCIOUS, PARTNERS NSCDC

The Rector of the institution Dr. Abdulganiyu Abimbola Adebisi, in his welcome address commend the officers of Nigeria Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for this brilliant idea in ensuring the security of lives in Nigeria tertiary institution and made Igbajo poly one of the beneficiaries of this laudable project. He said “This is a significant day for our institution,I believe this is the first time an event of this nature has been held here. We are directly engaging with experts from the NSCDC to equip our staff with essential knowledge and skills to ensure the safety of our campus. This initiative underscores our commitment to making our institution a secure environment for both learning and personal development.”
The Rector reiterates his commitment in ensuring the welfare and security of members of staff and students within and outside the institution. “This event has been an eye-opener for us. The knowledge and skills we have gained today are invaluable. I will continue to advocate for more collaborations with the NSCDC to ensure that our staff, and eventually our students, are well-prepared to handle any security challenges that may arise,” he said.
Dr. Adebisi also acknowledged the financial implications of extending such training to students but promised to seek further partnership with the NSCDC to strengthen security at Igbajo Polytechnic, opined that this was just first phase of a broader initiative.”

The polytechnic Boss, urged the staff and students on security measures. He advised them to be vigilant in their duties and also more vigilante, suspicious and promptly alert security personnel if they noticed any suspicious movement.
In a goodwill message, the NSSRCC Commandant, Dr. Ahmed Abodunrin highlighted some of the benefits of collaboration which he noted will promote job security and enhance productivity in the institution while the corps will continue to safeguarding educational institutions across the country. “This workshop is a vital step in our broader mission to secure schools nationwide, I commend Igbajo Polytechnic for its proactive approach towards this workshop.”
The workshop featured a series of lectures and practical sessions led by senior officers from the NSCDC, Bose Okeke (ACC), Atinuke Bashorun (CSC), Ahmed Adetoro (ASC1), and Alade Adekunle (SC). Each providing valuable insights into various aspects of security and personal protection. Among the topics discussed are, fundamental security principles and risk management to crisis response planning and effective communication strategies. The officers also demonstrated practical self-defense techniques and emphasized the importance of situational awareness for personal safety. Additionally, discussions on mental health underscored the need for psychological preparedness in facing potential threats.
However, the Chief Superintendent of Corps (CSC) Atinuke Bashorun, who led several of the sessions, shared her thoughts with Igbajo Poly News Crew on the significance of this training program. “Our aim is to equip educational institutions with the tools necessary to protect themselves and their communities. By fostering a culture of proactive security awareness, we can create safer learning environments,” she added.

According to one of the participants at the workshop Mr. Biyi Onipede the Dean students affairs of Igbajo Polytechnic commends the organizer of the event for the inclusion of igbajo Poly among the beneficiaries of the programme. He noted that the knowledge gained at the training will be put into practice if there is any unforeseen circumstances.
The workshop also features presentation of prizes and award to the management team and all the participants at the workshop.
