The event began with an endurance track march led by Rector Dr. Adebisi Abdul-Ganiyu Abimbola, symbolizing strength and unity in recognition of Mrs. Odetola's impactful career. The procession, which included staffs, moved through the polytechnic grounds, setting a festive and respectful tone. The day’s activities then transitioned to the Yetunde Oyewole Auditorium, where a ceremony was held in her honor.
Mrs. Odetola’s journey at Igbajo Polytechnic began in 2005 when she joined as Administrative Officer I. Over the years, her commitment to academic and administrative excellence earned her several promotions; she rose to Academic Officer and then to Assistant Registrar before ultimately assuming the role of Registrar in 2018. Known for her dedication to every staff member, Mrs. Odetola’s leadership and support have played a vital role in shaping the institution’s culture.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Adebisi Abdul-Ganiyu Abimbola praised her years of service and commended her leadership as a Registrar known for both dedication and compassion. “Mrs. Odetola is a true example of commitment and excellence,” he remarked. He also highlighted several instances where her hard work and meticulous attention to detail positively impacted the institution and fostered a strong sense of community.

In addition to the Rector, several prominent staff members shared their experiences working with Mrs. Odetola. Acting Bursar Mr. Aina Emmanuel spoke fondly of her supportive nature, while Dean of the Faculty of Management, Mr. Ogunniran Abraham, emphasized her lasting influence on faculty and staff. Administrative Officer Mr. Aluko Olusegun also commended her character, describing her as a reliable figure who consistently went above and beyond for the institution.
Throughout the ceremony, speakers shared stories and reflections on her years of service, celebrating Mrs. Odetola’s commitment to Igbajo Polytechnic’s growth and development. Her role as a leader and mentor extended beyond her official duties, inspiring those around her to uphold the values of hard work, integrity, and unity.
In her response , Mrs. Odetola could not hide her joy, she expressed heartfelt gratitude to her colleagues, students, and the entire Igbajo community. She spoke of her journey from an administrative officer to registrar, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and dedication in achieving shared goals. “I am truly grateful to have been part of this community and to have worked with individuals who care deeply about this institution,” she said. “I leave with cherished memories and the hope that the foundation we’ve built together will continue to thrive.”
