In a strategic orientation event, the Head of Department for Mass Communication, IGBAJO Polytechnic, Mr. Adesewomo Olugbega, introduced freshers to the leadership of the National Association of Mass Communication Students (NAMACOS). The session was a collaborative effort with Honorable Okunloro Abisola Elizabeth, the Speaker of NAMACOS, and the President, Mr. Omoboboye Abiola Joshua, aimed at addressing critical issues and guiding the new students on departmental expectations.

Honorable Okunloro Abisola Elizabeth began the session by introducing herself and engaging with the students about their resumption experiences. Her welcoming approach resonated with the audience, setting an inclusive and encouraging atmosphere. She went on to outline the department’s rules and regulations, particularly emphasizing the official dress code. According to her, students must wear black or white formal attire, with males and females adhering to a corporate style every Monday and Wednesday. Females are expected to wear black skirts or trousers paired with button-down shirts, while all students must wear formal shoes or sandals.

To ease the transition for freshers, she announced a grace period for compliance with the dress code, extending until January. She, however, stressed that adherence would become mandatory thereafter. Additionally, Honorable Okunloro introduced the department's fully equipped Radio and Television studios, highlighting their value for practical learning and skill development. She encouraged students to make full use of these facilities while upholding the NAMACOS values of discipline and academic excellence.

President Omoboboye Abiola Joshua addressed the students, urging them to prioritize their academic responsibilities. He advised them to prepare for their upcoming examinations by obtaining study materials and focusing on their studies immediately. He also reminded them of the departmental fee of ₦2,000, which is to be paid before examinations commence.

In his remarks, the President emphasized the importance of respect within the department, calling on the freshers to honor their senior colleagues in ND 2, HND 1 and HND 2, as well as their lecturers. He underscored the need for a harmonious relationship among students and staff to foster a positive learning environment.

The event provided a platform for the leadership to connect with freshers, clarify expectations, and motivate them to take full advantage of the opportunities within the department. The NAMACOS leadership reaffirmed their commitment to supporting students and ensuring a productive and engaging academic journey.
