Igbajo Polytechnic Holds 15th Matriculation Ceremony for 2024/2025 Academic Session

Igbajo Polytechnic, Igbajo, marked a significant milestone today, March 27, 2025, as it held its 15th Matriculation Ceremony at the Yetunde Oyewale Auditorium, officially welcoming new students into the institution for the 2024/2025 academic session.


The ceremony was attended by dignitaries, academic and non-academic staff, parents, and well-wishers, all gathered to witness the formal induction of the fresh students.


The event was led by the Registrar of the institution, Mr. Olayiwola Onipede, who coordinated the proceedings, including the presentation of students by the Deans of various faculties. The newly admitted students, having completed their registration, took the Matriculation Oath, symbolizing their commitment to the institution’s values and academic standards.


Delivering the welcome address on behalf of the Chairman of the Governing Council Professor Olufiropo Awokola, The former Osun State Permanent Secretary, Segun Olorunsogo, extended his congratulations to the matriculating students.

"I congratulate all the newly admitted students, and we are proud that you chose Igbajo Polytechnic out of all the institutions in Nigeria," he stated. He encouraged the students to take their academics seriously and engage in extracurricular activities such as departmental programs, seminars, and workshops to develop their skills. He further reminded them that they are not just students but ambassadors of the institution.


Addressing parents, he assured them that Igbajo Polytechnic remains dedicated to providing a quality education and a conducive learning environment for their wards throughout their academic journey.


The Rector, Dr. Ganiyu Abimbola Adebisi, also addressed the audience, acknowledging the dignitaries present and congratulating the matriculating students.

"Today marks a significant milestone in the lives of our new students, both ND1 and HND1, as they embark on an exciting journey of academic discovery and personal growth. As you begin this chapter, I urge you to be mindful of the immense opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. Our institution is committed to providing a conducive learning environment, experienced faculty, and state-of-the-art facilities to support your academics. However, I must caution you against indulging in any form of social vices that may jeopardize your academic pursuit," he stated.


He further advised students to shun cultism, examination malpractice, drug abuse, and other social vices that could negatively impact their academic success and the institution’s reputation. He urged them to remain diligent, focused, and committed to their studies.


The ceremony concluded on a joyful note, with the matriculants celebrating their new journey with music, dance, and excitement, marking the beginning of a new phase in their academic lives.
