Igbajo Polytechnic Mass Communication Department Holds Rally Ahead of Annual Orientation

The Department of Mass Communication at Igbajo Polytechnic set the campus ablaze with excitement as it held a vibrant awareness rally ahead of its annual orientation program. The rally, which started from Ija Oke and ended at the school premises, aimed to create awareness for the upcoming event while fostering unity among students.


As the rally reached the school’s administration block, the students were warmly received by top management officers, The Rector Dr. Ganiyu Abimbola Adebisi, The Deputy Rector, Engr. Monsuru Okandeji, The Registrar, Mr. Olayiwola Onipede and The Bursar, Mr. Akinlolu Abraham Ojo among others.



The Rector, Dr. Adebisi who commended the department for its energy and commitment to academic excellence.

"This rally is a beautiful display of enthusiasm and unity, and I must commend the Department of Mass Communication for setting a great example. However, I want to remind you that beyond this excitement, your primary focus here is your education don't let your secondary assignment overcome your primary assignment. Take your studies seriously and ensure that you leave this institution as skilled professionals, as we all know this institution is the first community owned polytechnic in Nigeria and Second in Africa," the Rector stated.


Following the Rector’s remarks, the Registrar, Mr. Olayiwola Onipede also addressed the students, applauding their sense of community and discipline.


"It is inspiring to see how organized and passionate the Mass Communication students are. Your department has always been known for creativity and professionalism. Keep up the good work and continue to uphold the standards that set you apart," the Registrar said.


Adding to the significance of the rally, the Head of the Department, Mr. Olugbenga Adesemowo, spoke about the importance of the event and what it represents for both new and returning students.

"This rally is not just about marching through the streets; it symbolizes the unity, energy, and drive of our department. As communicators, you are expected to be bold, vocal, and innovative. This is just a glimpse of what your journey in this department will entail. I encourage all students, especially the freshers, to take full advantage of the upcoming orientation program to understand the values and expectations of Mass Communication as a field and as a career," Mr. Adesemowo stated.


To wrap up the event, the President of the National Association of Mass Communication Students (NAMACOS), Comrade Omoboboye Abiola Joshua, expressed gratitude to the department's leadership and the students for their active participation.


"This rally is a reflection of our passion for Mass Communication and the bond we share as students of this great department. I appreciate the support of our lecturers and management for always standing by us. As we prepare for the main orientation, I urge every student to stay engaged, participate actively, and take every lesson seriously because this is where we begin to shape our future in the media world," the President said.


The rally concluded in a festive atmosphere, with students and lecturers celebrating together, dancing, and cheering. The event not only created awareness but also reinforced the strong spirit of camaraderie within the department, setting a high expectation for the upcoming orientation program.
