Mass Communication Department Energized with 5KVA Solar Inverter Donation

In a major leap toward improving academic productivity and practical learning, the Department of Mass Communication, Igbajo Polytechnic, has been equipped with a 5KVA solar inverter, generously donated by the Igbajo 77 Progressive Club. The installation marks a significant stride in promoting uninterrupted power supply, especially for students involved in media, broadcasting, and digital production.

During an official visit to the department, the Director of ICT, Mr. Adeleke Isiaka, commended the initiative and highlighted its academic relevance.

“This is more than just electricity—it’s an investment in students’ academic performance,” Mr. Isiaka stated. “With constant power, students can now fully engage in practical without disruption.”

Also present at the inspection was the Director of Academic Planning, Mr. Ayinla Ademola, who spoke on the importance of ensuring long-term maintenance of the new facility.


“It’s a great development, but beyond installation, proper maintenance is key,” he said. “We must all play our part in ensuring the device serves the department efficiently for many years.”

Reacting to the development, the Head of Department, Mr. Olugbenga Adesemowo, expressed gratitude to both the school management and the donor club for their thoughtful gesture.


“We sincerely appreciate the Igbajo 77 Progressive Club and the management or Igbajo Polytechnic for giving our department this great opportunity,” he said. “The motivation behind this installation came from the need to support students practically. Mass Communication is a practical-oriented course, and this inverter will help our campus radio go live 24/7.”


He further encouraged students to take advantage of the opportunity, emphasizing the value of practical exposure in shaping their future careers.


“The time is now—whether it’s news editing, video production, presenting, casting or other field, this facility gives you the power to choose your path,” he added. “But I also urge all students to use it responsibly and maintain it well so it can serve future generations.”

The solar inverter is already transforming the department’s academic atmosphere, especially by enabling constant operation of its radio studio and editing suites. With this development, the department continues to grow as a center for excellence in media education.
