The Chief Executive Officer of Tungba FM 90.3 Igbajo, Prince Gbolahan Odo, has restored the station’s public charging facility and refunded the money contributed by students who had attempted to repair it out of necessity.
The outdoor charging point, located just outside the station's premises, was originally established to cushion the effects of irregular electricity supply in the Igbajo community. Over time, it became an essential resource for students of Igbajo Polytechnic and local residents, offering a free and steady source of power for charging mobile devices.
However, prolonged and frequent use led to the damage of several sockets, disrupting access to the facility. In response, a group of concerned students pooled resources to carry out temporary repairs so that service could continue.

Speaking on behalf of the CEO, a staff member of Tungba FM, Mr. Shina Odeyale, confirmed that Prince Odo personally funded the full cost of restoring the charging facility and insisted that the students be refunded.
“The CEO of Tungba FM noticed that most of the people benefitting from this service are students, many of whom are from other communities or even states. Without electricity, how would they communicate with their parents or guardians? That was what inspired the creation of the outdoor charging spot. He also knows that many students can barely afford two meals a day, so he insisted that the charging point must remain free,” Mr. Odeyale explained.
He further spoke about the repair efforts:
“When the students noticed that some of the sockets were damaged, they began contributing money to fix them. As soon as the information reached me, I informed the CEO. He immediately ordered that no one should contribute further and provided the funds for a complete repair,” he added.
The gesture has been met with gratitude from students who benefit from the facility.
