It was an historic moment at Igbajo Polytechnic on Friday, August 29, 2025, as the Igbajo ’77 Progressive Club donated a 5KVA solar inverter to the institution’s Department of Mass Communication, a gesture aimed at enhancing academic excellence and uninterrupted practical learning.

Speaking at the official handing-over ceremony, the President of the Club, Dr. Femi Babatunji Ojo, ably represented by the Vice President, Mr. Ayodeji Faloni, reaffirmed the club’s commitment to the development of education and the Igbajo community at large.
“We understand that education is key to development. By supporting the students today, we are investing in the brighter future of our community and society. This donation is not just a gift, but a statement of hope and a reminder that possibilities abound for our younger generation,” he said.

Dr. Ojo explained that the vision behind the donation stemmed from the club’s social policy on education and community development, stressing that an educated population is the driving force of societal progress. He noted that the initiative was part of several social impact projects embarked upon by the club to give back to the community.

The event had in attendance distinguished personalities, including the Chairman of the Governing Council, Mr. Segun Olorunsogo; the Rector, Dr. Ganiyu Abimbola Adebisi; the Deputy Rector, Engr. Monsuru Ade Okandeji; the Registrar, Mr. Olayiwola Ezekiel Onipede, and several other academic officers.

In his goodwill message, the Chairman of the Governing Council, Mr. Segun Olorunsogo, commended the Igbajo ’77 Progressive Club for their foresight and dedication to education, noting that their action would leave a lasting impact on the institution.
“What you have done today is an investment in knowledge, and knowledge, as we know, is the foundation of sustainable development. On behalf of the Governing Council, I extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Igbajo ’77 Progressive Club,” he said.

Also speaking, the Rector, Dr. Ganiyu Abimbola Adebisi, expressed profound appreciation to the donor club, describing the gesture as “a timely and transformative contribution that will strengthen the department’s capacity for practical training, particularly in broadcasting.”
“With this solar inverter, we are confident that our students will now have uninterrupted access to training facilities. This will go a long way in preparing them to compete with their peers globally,” Dr. Adebisi remarked.

The donation has been widely described as a beacon of hope for students, particularly those in the Mass Communication Department, who will now enjoy a more enabling environment for learning.
