Igbajo Poly Stands Still as NAMACOS Unveils Magazine Publication

It was a day of joy, excitement, and celebration at Igbajo Polytechnic as the National Association of Mass Communication Students (NAMACOS) unveiled the second edition of its departmental magazine, marking another milestone in the department’s quest for academic and creative excellence.

The event, held at the institution’s Yetunde Oyewole Auditorium, was more than just a magazine launch — it also featured an award presentation ceremony, recognizing outstanding contributions from staff, management, students, and guests, who has distinguished themselves towards the growth and development of the department.

Delivering the keynote address, the Rector, Dr. Ganiyu Abimbola Adebisi, addressed the students of the department, encouraging them to do more while acknowledging the Mass Communication department as one of the best in the institution.


The guest speaker, Dr. David Binta Oloyede, Dean, Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, Federal Polytechnic, Offa, applauded the department’s unity in achieving this milestone. He further encouraged the students to strive for greater academic success, noting that their achievement was not by mistake but through dedication and commitment.

While delivering his speech, the Head of Department of Mass Communication, Mr. Olugbenga Adesemo, acknowledged the unwavering support and encouragement received from the management led by Dr. Ganiyu Abimbola Adebisi, which has provided an enabling environment for the staff to deliver the best legacy to the department and the institution at large. He also noted that the department has successfully published the second edition of Igbajo Poly Magazine, showcasing the creativity and talent of the students while projecting the image of the institution.


Also speaking at the event was the Dean, Faculty of Communication and Information Technology (FCIT), Mr. Fabunmi Adeoye, who appreciated the management for their support in improving the standard of education in the institution and also urged the students to continue to strive for excellence in their academic pursuit.


The event attracted several dignitaries, including the Deputy Rector, Engr. Monsuru Ade Okandeji, Registrar, Mr. Ezekiel Olayiwola Onipede, Dean, FCIT, Mr. Fabunmi S.A, Bursar, Mr. Akinlolu Abraham Ojo, and other distinguished personalities who graced the occasion to celebrate with the students and the department at large.


The colourful gathering reflected the vibrant spirit of the Mass Communication department, reinforcing its commitment to practical learning, creativity, and recognition of hard work. The newly launched magazine stands as a testament to the students’ dedication to journalism and media excellence within and beyond the institution.
